Exact location of bench in Amsterdam ‘The Fault in our Stars’
To be honest, we didn’t had a clue when a few weeks ago a complete filmcrew blocked the street where we have our office. Since Amsterdam city-centre is a filmset in itself, we see filmcrews in our city on a daily basis. But with all the buzz going on in the Netherlands right now about the movie ‘The Fault in our Stars’, we instantly recognized the pictures and the trailer!
Our office is located on the corner of Leidsegracht/Keizersgracht, and one canalbridge further away at the corner of Leidsegracht/Herengracht, we often have a coffeebreak (especially when it’s sunny) and sit down on the two benches there. To our surprise one of those benches has been used in the movie! The same bench where we have our daily coffeebreak!
The movie will be released on 10th July, but it seems that the movie is already released in other parts of the world. (That’s why we wright this post in English, because normally our website is in Dutch only).
Good news and bad news
Let’s start with the bad news; The actual bench has been stolen. Probably because it was getting more and more popular because of the movie. The department of public works of Amsterdam declared that they did NOT remove the bench. At the exact spot of the stolen bench is now a flower pot, installed by the neighbours.
The good news: the second bench (not used in the movie) is still there! And the city of Amsterdam promised to replace a new ‘special TFIOS-bench’ before the Dutch release date on 10th July 2014. So you can still sit down and relax there, and more importantly, enjoy the beautiful and stunning view over de Amsterdam canals.
UPDATE 15JUL14: A new bench has been installed! See the last 3 pictures below.
The exact address of the bench is ‘Leidsegracht #4‘ by the way, and it’s located where Herengracht and Leidsegracht meet.
