Exact location of bench in Amsterdam ‘The Fault in our Stars’
But with all the buzz going on, in the Netherlands right now about the movie ‘The Fault in our Stars’, we instantly recognized the pictures and the trailer!
The TFIOS-bench at Leidsegracht/Herengracht
Our office is located at the corner of Leidsegracht/Keizersgracht, and one canalbridge further away at the corner of Leidsegracht/Herengracht, we often have a coffeebreak (especially when it’s sunny) and sit down on the two benches there.
To our surprise one of those benches has been used in the movie! The same bench where we have our daily coffeebreak!
The movie will be released on 10th July 2014, but it seems that the movie is already released in other parts of the world. (That’s why we write this specific post in English, since this a Dutch website by default).
The good news and bad news about the TFIOS bench
Let’s start with the bad news; The actual bench has been stolen. Probably because it was getting more and more popular because of the movie.
The Department of Public Works of the City of Amsterdam declared that they did NOT remove the bench. At the exact spot of the stolen bench is now a flower pot, installed by the neighbours.
The good news: the second bench (not used in the movie) is still there! And the City of Amsterdam promised to replace a new ‘special TFIOS-bench’ before the release date on 10th July 2014.
So you can still sit down and relax there, and more importantly, enjoy the beautiful and stunning view over de Amsterdam canals.
The exact location of the bench is in front of the addresses Leidsegracht #2 and #4, at the corner where the canals of Herengracht and Leidsegracht meet. The people who live at these addresses do not have any relation with the benches or the movie TFIOS.
Therefore we kindly ask you, to respect their privacy and not to disturb them or their neighbours!
